FAQ’s

Why should I use New York Fingerprinting services, when there are many individuals offering fingerprinting services in NY?

In business since June of 2002, New York Fingerprinting has developed a loyal following of both corporate and individual clients. The goal of our expertly trained experienced technicians is a simple one: to provide the best fingerprinting services at your convenience and with the highest degree of professionalism.

Our rejection rate is very low (less than 3%) you have the confidence and peace of mind knowing that your fingerprints will be captured by an experienced professional. In the rare case of rejection, we will re-print you at no extra charge.

Our prices are both fair and competitive. We offer discounts for both the quantity of persons printed as well as for the number of cards needed.

In today’s volatile employment environment, employers are requesting fingerprints as a prerequisite for employment. By using New York Fingerprinting, you can avoid the headache of hiring an untrained, inexperienced individual using substandard equipment. These individuals offer no accountability for the prints and often do more harm than good with fingerprints regularly rejected, reprints not granted, and a high degree of risk for both document and identity theft.

Why would my fingerprints be rejected?

While out rejection rate is very low, it does sometimes happen. Fingerprints may be rejected for many reasons, some of which are unavoidable. Most often it is due to medical conditions or physical impairments that make capture more difficult. As a policy New York Fingerprinting will reprint our clients at no extra charge in the rare case of rejection.

What forms of ID do I need to get fingerprinted?

All persons being fingerprinted must have a valid, government-issued proof of identity such as a Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID, Tribal ID or Passport). Expired IDs, Company IDs, and photos or copies of IDs are not acceptable. All IDs must have a picture, birthdate, and expiration date.

I heard of Live Scan or digital fingerprints. Can I have them instead?

We currently offer live scan (digital) fingerprinting services for the FBI and FDLE.

Live scan fingerprinting systems are designed for ease of use and for capturing high quality fingerprint images. Live Scan is inkless electronic fingerprinting. The fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the appropriate agency for completion of a criminal record check. Digitizing the fingerprint minutiae (the characteristics that make fingerprinting unique) enables the electronic transfer of the fingerprint image data in a matter of seconds instead of the days required to send hard copy fingerprint cards through the mail.

Can I purchase my own ink and fingerprint myself?

No. Fingerprinting should only be conducted by officials properly trained to take clear, accurate fingerprints. Fingerprint card submissions that do not meet the required specifications will be rejected.

How do I know my personal data is secure?

Your personal data traveling from the fingerprint equipment is comprehensively secured and regulated by both State and Federal regulations governing the use of that data.

How long does the fingerprinting process take?

In most cases the fingerprinting process will take approximately 10-20 minutes from start to finish. This includes the rolling process as well as the submission of your prints to the State Agency, FBI Channeler or other recipient organization.

How will I receive my results of my FBI Background Check?

You can download a PDF of your results via email through a secure portal, or a hard copy via USPS or UPS.
